The Agia Anna settlement is an important landmark of Aigio’s modern history, established to accommodate refugees following the Asia Minor Catastrophe of 1922. Its simple and functional houses reflect the difficult living conditions of the period, while the settlement gradually developed into a vibrant center of social and economic activity. At the same time, it has preserved elements of the refugees’ cultural identity, serving as an important site of historical memory and highlighting the decisive role of refugee resettlement in shaping the modern society of Aigio and the wider Aigialeia region.
