The Church of the Presentation of the Virgin Mary, widely known as Panagitsa, was rebuilt in 1894 to designs by Ernst Ziller. Its history dates back to the seventeenth century, when it was known as Panagia i Xeni (“Our Lady of the Stranger”). Historical and archaeological evidence suggests that an ancient sanctuary once stood here, linking Aigio’s ancient past with its enduring Christian tradition.
